Buckwheat Vermicelli with Cilantro Pesto

Cilantro Pesto   1 very large wad of cilantro leaves & stems 1/2 - 2/3 cup olive oil 1/3 - 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (some zest, if desired) 5-7 cloves garlic 1 teaspoon sea salt 2/3 - 1 cup almonds Buckwheat Noodles and Veggies  1 package buckwheat noodles (12 oz?) 2 large tomatoes, sliced somewhat thinly 1 pepper, sliced thinly 1 very large handful fresh spinach, cut into 2-3 inch lengths more salt and lemon juice if desired To make the pesto in a high speed blender, put in the wet ingredients (lemon juice and olive oil) and half of the cilantro leaves. Blend till somewhat smooth before adding the remaining leaves. Blend again, adding in the seasonings and the almonds last. The almonds do not need to be blended into a smooth paste ... some texture adds interest to the food. Serve fresh or chilled. (The pesto will definitely be thicker once it has chilled.) Buckwheat vermicelli with veggies (tomatoes, sweet red pepper, spinach) and cilantro pesto sauce. To make the gluten...

Milk Is Good Food? Think Again!

No other animal in the wild drinks the milk of another species. No other animal in the wild drinks its’ own mother’s milk past the age of weaning. There are a number of reasons why drinking cow’s milk is not the best choice for humans. Here are just a few: Cow’s milk protein is 85% casein which is potentially carcinogenic to humans. It is therefore a potential contributing cause of eczema, acne, kidney disease, arthritis, tooth decay, asthma, irritable bowels, sinus problems, Crohn's, colitis, MS, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. Cow’s milk is rich in a simple sugar called lactose, or “milk sugar.” However, after infancy, many people lose their ability to digest lactose. The result is that undigested lactose travels to the large intestine where bacteria break this sugar down, producing anything from gas, to cramps, to diarrhea. Cow’s milk is either a contributing cause or the sole cause for many people’s intestinal problems. Cow’s milk and other products (eggs, cheese, an...

A "Cure-all" Anti-fungal Recipe

[Any time I see this kind of advertising—"the most powerful", "kills any infection", I immediately become skeptical, especially as (1) it reads like a come-on gimmick, and (2) if it’s so good, why reiterate it but just state that it is good and let logic rule rather than hammer in the marketing hit phrase “best ever”. After reading the ingredients—some of which I’ve had reactions to with my candida—I really must doubt this “therapy”. However, I post it here so other people can read another perspective and have a fair chance of making an “informed decision” before they blindly pump this cure-all into their already damaged bodies, assuming the reader here has candida. This recipe sounds pretty potent and effective; however, for people with candida I would recommend caution and revision of the recipe. My comments on a few key points people with candida should consider are in orange. ] This Is The Most Powerful Natural Antibiotic Ever – Kills Any Infe...

11 "Healthy", but Really Unhealthy Foods!

Nutrition is full of nonsense. You will find bold health claims for all kinds of foods, most often based on zero evidence. Here are the top 11 “health foods” that are actually very harmful. 1. Fruit Juices The fruit juices you find at the supermarket aren’t always what they seem. They may have small amounts of real fruit in them, but often they are little more than water, artificial flavor and sugar . But even if you’re drinking real fruit juice, it is still a bad idea. Fruit juice is like fruit with most of the good stuff removed. All that is left is the sugar and a few vitamins. Orange juice, for example, contains the same amount of sugar as Coca Cola. There’s no fiber in it, no chewing resistance and nothing to stop you from downing massive amounts of sugar in a short amount of time. Eating too much sugar is associated with all sorts of diseases. These include obesity, type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease and many others ( 1 , 2 , 3 ). It is much better to avoid fruit jui...

Vitamin K2, Vitamin D and Calcium

Doing more research on the bones, I discovered the new vitamin that everyone seems to be suddenly talking about -- Vitamin K -- is very important for bone health and interaction with other dependent vitamins and minerals. Vitamin K is fat-soluble, and I'm deficient in fat (triglycerides this past summer dropped to 25, which is very low and a little dangerous as it's under 40). My Vitamin A, a fat soluble vitamin, has been very low for a long time, so perhaps my Vitamin K is too. Hmmm.  Vitamin K is broken into three vitamins actually: K1 from green leafies and other similar sources, K2 from animal-based and even fermented food and is bacterial so especially vegans (am nearly vegan) with candida struggle with getting this one adequately, and then K3 is synthetic so avoid.  Anyway, to have a better understanding of the importance of this little-understood vitamin, read Dr. Mercola's article : Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin most well known for the important role i...
